Joel
Fadem's practice-area focus is organization design and change management.
He has also consulted to Fortune 500 companies on strategic organization
design, high involvement work systems, new technology introduction,
and union-management cooperation.
He
joined UCLA in 1975 as a Senior Fellow in the Center for Quality of
Working Life, and has held part time appointments in the Institute of
Industrial Relations, the Anderson School and the Graduate School of
Education and Information Studies since 1981. His recent clients have
included Coca Cola, Lever USA, Nabisco, Sony USA, General Mills, Hewlett-Packard,
Telecom Italia, LG Group (Korea), Tropicana-Pepsi, the Salt River Project,
the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, and the San Francisco
Bay Area Rapid Transit District. In the 1990's he taught frequently
in the University of Florence 's MBA Program on Technology Management
in Italy and the CERAM-Nice School of Management's MBA program in France;
he also moderated Executive Leadership programs at the Aspen Institute.
For
the past 14 years he has been an executive committee member of UCLA's
Human Resource Round Table for Senior Executives Earlier in his career
Joel was a consultant in the Behavioral Sciences division of Dunlap
and Associates in Darien, CT, the Rand Corporation in Santa Monica,
CA and was a Fulbright Scholar in the Department of Economics at Melbourne
University in Australia.
His
undergraduate education was in Economics at the University of California,
Berkeley. His post-graduate degrees are in Administrative Sciences and
Industrial Relations from Yale and Oxford Universities, respectively.
